FALIA-PLIA Recognizes High School Essay Competition Winners
in Virtual Awarding Ceremony
The 16 winners of the 2019-2020 Essay Competition held among high school students in Batangas Province and Batangas City were recognized in an e-Awarding Ceremony on February 25, 2022.
The competition was held among 12 schools nominated by the Department of Education-Division of Batangas Province and four schools nominated by the Department of Education-Division of Batangas City on the theme “Achieving a happy life through effective financial planning & insurance”.
It was sponsored by Japan’s Foundation for the Advancement of Life & Insurance Around the World (FALIA) and organized by the Philippine Life Insurance Association (PLIA) in partnership with Knowledge Community, Inc. (KCI).
KCI and PLIA conducted lectures in the nominated schools to educate the students on financial planning and insurance, to serve as the basis for their essays. The schools then submitted their top essays as their entries to the competition. After three rounds of judging by PLIA, FALIA and KCI, 16 winners emerged from just five schools, namely Alangilan Senior High School, Bauan Technical High School, Bauan National Agricultural and Vocational High School, Rosario National High School and Sta. Teresita National High School.
There were ten 3rd Prize Winners who won P10,000 each, certificates, and a Bambler (bamboo tumbler) . Three 2nd Prize winners received P20,000 each, certificates, and a Bambler. The three 1st Prize Winners received P50,000 each, certificates, and a Bambler Traveller’s Pack. All winning schools received trophies in recognition of their achievement.
The three 1st Prize winners were Kristin Camille D. Dinglasan of Alangilan Senior High School along with Allysa Mary P. Barte and Ysobelle Annie G. Coronel, both from Bauan Technical High School.
The three 2nd Prize winners were Janna Rosette Comia and Jeadryl G. Catipan, both from Rosario National High School, and Nomar B. Silang from Bauan Technical High School.
The ten 3rd Prize winners were Catherine Kyle Abanes, Blessly Anne Dimaculangan, Jennie Ilao, and Irvin Kiane Fider, all from the Bauan Technical High School. Other winners were from the Bauan National Agricultural and Vocational High School namely Jhon Carlo Sulit, Bea Giselle Abe, and Shane Merelle Anyayahan. Rosette Ann Palma from Sta. Teresita National High School, Lori-Lyn G. Guico from Alangilan Senior High School, and Rhea Ross Pascua from Rosario National High School round up the list of winners of the 3rd Prize.
Special messages were shared by FALIA Director Yoshihisa Ishii, PLIA President Rico Bautista and Department of Education – Division of Batangas City Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Felizardo O. Bolaños. PLIA General Manager George Mina explained the prize conversion for the first prize winners because of travel restrictions due to the pandemic. The school principals of each winning school also delivered congratulatory messages to their winning students.
Virtual Program Intermission: Centex Strings:
With the Year 4 essay writing competition having been done in the Province of Batangas, PLIA worked to make possible showcasing additional talent that is native to the province, by featuring as awarding program intermission a string ensemble comprising of Grade 4 and 5 students of Centex Batangas, who take up violin lessons online.
